Community Trick or Treat

Each year MarshView participates in the Horicon community Trick or Treat event.  As a church we want to engage in our community with the hope of meeting our neighbors both near and far. It is a chance to interact, get to know and hopefully build relationships with the kids, parents and grandparents that come to the church to pick up their candy.  We also provide hot chocolate, coffee, crafts and other faith based items along with a welcoming atmosphere.  It is a time to give back a little to those in our community and to engage in conversation and encouragement.

This will still be the case on October 31st, 2020. Because of the COVID-19 outbreak, like most business and other activities there will be some changes along the way.  We will hold the event outside and not inside.  We will be handing out small bags of candy and trinkets to each child and will hand people a cup of hot cocoa if they want one and a small bag of cookies that we put together.  We will also direct people in one direction and encourage spacing between families and groups that come to the church.  We will have three tents set up outside where we will hand items out.

Direct contact will be very limited and will be distant.  We hope to still create an atmosphere of fun and enjoyment for those who come and we hope that next year will be back to more normal practices.

We also want to encoruage people who come for the event to consider visiting MarshView for a Sunday morning worship service and encourage to build a relationship with both God and with those of MarshView.

For those who are a part of MarshView Ministries there is a need for some volunteer help and for some items to donate.

Pumpkins for decoration
Large cans of Hot Cocoa powder
Oreo cookies in the large packages - we will divide them up
Rice Crispy Bars, we will individually bag them
Sandwich size "zip lock" bags - 400 needed

We could use 8 to 10 volunteers to help hand out these gift bags, direct and manage traffic (people) flow

We will gather at 10 am to put items together and to set up, then again at 3:30 for the event from 4 to 7 pm.

Thanks,
Pastor Dave
